| Twelve Trials were conducted at Longford on Tuesday 25/5 with some smart horses coming out to show where they are at leading into their Winter preparations. The first three trials were for 2YO's and a smart one may have been uncovered in the form of Alesto Star, a gelding by Telesto, who showed blistering speed to win Heat 2 by 10L in a fast (40.97 sec)over Isibaeva a filly by Johannesburg who also looked a likely type. Trial 1 was won by Shinto in a time of 41.59 sec, ridden by former top apprentice James Nevin who is on a comeback trail and should be a big acquisition to local racing. Trial 3 was won in slower time (42.37 sec) by It'd Be Handy from the Goggin stable. Trial 4 was the first of the 3YO trials and was taken out by Avachar in 40.87 sec over Tom Tom. Both of these horses should pick up a race in the near future. Trial 5 was won by Mentallist over Tinj in a slower 41.28 sec. Trial 6 winner Lovely Darts looked good in winning his trial by 3 1/2L in a time of 40.94 sec.and is one to keep an eye on. Will's Hope won Trial 7 in a slower 41.47 sec. Trial 8 was a trial for Open horses and was run in the quickest time of the day (40.53 sec) and taken out by Wealthy Lad over Play Of The Day and Ghandi, King Of Gondor,Loroupe and Seal Lago also competed and you will find this trial to be the trial to take note of as all runners are smart and will all be worth following in their next few runs - with all of them returning from spells. Trial 9 was won by True Gee Gee over Academic Lad in a time of 41.12 sec. Trial 10 was taken out by the speedy Tel Me If from Raging Baa and Donejak in a time of 41.07 sec. Trial 11 was another good quality trial with Three Dancers winning from top mare With Decorum and Toughathetop - all three capable of winning in the coming weeks. I was most impressed with the trial of With Decorum. Trial 12 was over 1000M and won by Mr McCartney from Upanova and Tiger Khan in a time of 1.03.44 sec. |
