The first meeting of the night racing season got under way with a cocktail party and a top night of racing in Launceston.
The opening event threw up a longshot in the form of Iggimacool, a three year old filly from the Bill Ryan stable, who came from the extreme outside barrier to sit four wide for a good part of the trip and then race away to a most impressive win.

The Geards and their GG horses were to the fore again winning two races for trainer Stuart Gandy, namely Gee Gees Showboy and Geegees Martini.

Trainer Leon Wells who is having one of his best seasons, trained a winning double winning with Barely A Secret and Aslanyon. Leon looks like holding a big hand in the upcoming Newmarket next month with his outstanding duo Rebel Bride and Black 'N' Tough.

Two of the Winter's most improved gallopers, Sun Disk & Neil's Gold won again - Sun Disk taking his tally to four wins & two seconds from six runs since July, while Neil's Gold won three and placed in two from five runs this season.

We now move to next Wednesday night with another strong program in place.
