| The official Trials for 2YO's, 3YO's and Newmarket prospects were held at Tote Racing Centre on Saturday. Some promising babies were on show for the first time officially, and none more so than Vivacious and Unlimited from the Barry Campbell yard - both winners in similar times (34.56 and 34.36 over 600M), the Third trial being won by Golden Needles from the McGregor/ Rhind stable in 35.20. All 19 2YO's appeared to be well educated and forward in their preparations. Most of the 3YO's to trial are unknown quantities at this stage, but a couple of handy types were introduced to the StrathAyr track in the form of Mr Fashion from the Leon Laskey stable and Smokin' Tiger trained by Charlie Goggin, running 48.24 and 48.51 respectively for 800M. The two Newmarket trials had most onlookers drooling over what might be on 22nd November, with the 800M trial being won by Miewa's Quest over Colonel Parker, Wealthy Lad and Black Glennoel, with none of them being fully extended, but still running a quick time of 47.21. The second Newmarket trial, over 1100M, was won in dashing style by Lyell over Conquering and Geejayhaitch. No official time was recorded, but the winner went very quick. It looks as though all Newmarket contenders have come back from their breaks very well and it will be a bumper day of top class racing on our main Spring Race Day. Hopefully see you all there. |
