| A great days racing was had by racegoers who attended a wet but action filled day at The Tote Racing Centre yesterday. Right from the first race, won by late maturing gelding Fiddian Green to the tenth race won by Final Words, patrons got their monies worth. Three wins to Victorian jockey Dean Yendall, two wins to Dan Nikolic, one each to Luke Currie, Ben Knobel, Dean Holland and the remaining two races to Justin Hamer and Stephen Maskiell. A double to Longford trainer John Blacker was a highlght of the day for all those who know John. Southern training partners David and Scott Brunton upstaged the more fancied candidates in the Jackson Motor Company 3YO Cup and the Country Club Newmarket, with their relative outsiders Obstinado and Life To The Full. The other feature race was won by first starter Royal Miswaki, who we have featured in our Longford trials column at the last two sets of trials. The winner being trained by Ian Hay and raced in partnership by Andrew Crosby, Phil Clemons, Catherine Cooley and Rebecca Crosby. The StrathAyr track appeared to play fairly to all comers and the members and staff of the TTC can be very proud of their achievements. |
