Experience an exciting day of premium racing and entertainment, the AAMI Launceston Cup, an event like no other. Be a part of the colourful, friendly crowd at the social event of the year. Launceston Cup day just has it all, extravagant and colourful fashions, great entertainment, magnificent racing and an electric fun-filled atmosphere.

The Launceston Cup and Carnival has become acknowledged as being one of the most prestigious in Australia with the “Affair to Remember” campaign being so successful that it received national recognition.

The importance of the Launceston Cup and Carnival to the local community is enormous, it has become the peoples day, and a huge amount of turnover is generated for many sectors of the local business community.

The Launceston Cup is acknowledged as being the major event on the Tasmanian social calendar. Much of the extraordinary growth in the event has been as a direct result of the increased emphasis on the social aspects of the day.

Picnic Car Spaces:

The AAMI Launceston Cup is famous for its picnic car spaces and although the Club endeavour to fit everyone in the picnic spaces have become so popular that this is not always possible. Patrons who had spaces the previous year have preference to retain their position. Any positions left are given out at the discretion of the Chief Executive Officer. Patrons holding Car park positions are still allowed to bring in their own alcohol (in cars only)

Prices for picnic car spaces are as follows:
- Home Turn (Members) - $300
- Home Turn (Non-Members) - $385
- Leger (Members) - $385
- Leger (Non-Members) - $495

Dining:

Wednesday night 13th February first night of the AAMI Launceston Cup Carnival with VIVA ITALIA - A little bit of Italy comes to the TOTE Racing Centre. Feast on delicious Italian cuisine (three course alternate drop dinner) in Silks Restaurant. $50 members $55 non members (includes entry to the course and members reserve) Please note this is a pre paid dinner and a booking form can be obtained from the Club.

Feature races on the night include the $50,000 Shaw Magic Millions 2YO, $50,000 Tasbreeders Magic Millions 3YO and $50,000 Magic Millions Open Classic. The night is sure to come alive with some of the best thoroughbreds, trainers and jockeys competing for over $150,000 in prizemoney.

What a night of racing ! on the second day of the Carnival Wednesday night 20th February. Feature races include the Carlton Draught $100,000 Vamos Stakes (Listed) WFA for Fillies and Mares and the $100,000 PFD Food Services Tasmanian Oaks. See the best thoroughbreds, trainers and jockeys compete against the interstate raiders - a great night of quality racing and a perfect lead into Cup with two of Tasmania's premier races.

Book into Silks Restaurant perfectly positioned with premium racetrack views, for the best seat in the house to experience the exhilaration of night racing under lights. Enjoy fine service while dining a delicious three course alternate drop dinner. Members $50 non Members $55 (price includes entry to the course and Members reserve). Please note this is a pre paid dinner and a booking form can be obtained by phoning the Club.

Girls Night out Cocktail Party is also on this night Wednesday 20th February in the Colours Room. Well not only a night for the girls the guys are invited as well. Join us for a great night of fun, & entertainment. $90pp includes admittance to gate and Colours function room, hot and cold finger food and beverages (Champagne, beer, wine & soft drink) for the evening complimentary race book and guest speaker. Peter Murphy will be master of ceremonies and the evening will include guest tipster and prizes and giveaways. Guest speaker is Sheila Laxon who was the first female thoroughbred trainer to win the big two Australian Cups, the Caulfield and Melbourne Cups double in 2001 with her great mare Ethereal. Phone the Club for bookings, there will be no door sales.

There is no better place to be on Launceston Cup day 27th February 2013 than in Silks Restaurant situated in the comfort of the Members Reserve overlooking the home straight for superb race track viewing, nothing delivers a better racing atmosphere from which you can experience Launceston Cup day. Feature races on the day include the $50,000 Veolia Environmental Services 3YO Classic, $100,000 Tatts Bet George Adams Plate, $100,000 Shaw Gold Sovereign Stakes & the $225,000 AAMI Launceston Cup.

Members Reserve Package includes:
- Admittance to the course and members area (for non members)

- Three course luncheon (including entrée, main course and waiter service, served alternatively & dessert)

If you cant get into the members why not book into the buffet carvery hall of fame room (ground floor grandstand. Patrons can enjoy a delicious three course hot & cold buffet carvery including seafood and complimentary race book for only $65pp members and $95pp for non members (beverages charged on consumption). Please note there is no direct view of the track from this room however the local races can be viewed on screens in the room or guests can view from the general public area in the middle level. Tote facilities are available just outside the room for easy access. Table sizes are 8's & 10's (smaller bookings may be seated with other people)

There are approximately 25 private and corporate marquees on Cup Day. Launceston Cup Day has become a huge corporate event with many of Tasmania and Australia’s largest companies using the occasion as an opportunity to network and promote their businesses.

Examiner Fashions on the Field:

Express your own sense and style of racing fashion and be a part of the colourful, enthralling and sophisticated fashion extravaganza that is the Examiner Fashions on the Field.

Indulge your passion for fashion and you could be flying overseas. First prize in the womens classic racewear includes return airfares for two to Paris including five nights twin share accommodation and $1000 spending money.

For the boys there is a trip for two to Las Angeles including return airfares, five nights accommodation and $1000 spending money. Prizes for the event are worth in excess of "$15,000".

The expectation for 2013 is that Fashions on the Field will continue to grow given the level of enquiry received to date from business and the local community.

Pre entry is not required, simply enter on the day. Assemble at the Fashions on the Field marquee (situated near the entrance to the course no later than 1pm.

Judging times Men's Classic race wear - 1.15pm | Women's Classic race wear thereafter.

Launceston Cup Eve Mingle & Calcutta:

Launceston Cup Eve & $10,000 Calcutta is on Tuesday 26 February at the Country Club Tasmania. Join us for expert tips, selections and viewing of all lead up races on the giant screen as you rub shoulders with some of the country's most prominent racing identities.

The Cup Eve mingle will be held from 6pm to 8pm and costs $45 per person which includes a buffet BBQ dinner with seafood and will be followed by the $10,000 Calcutta at 8pm. The Calcutta is a free event but smart casual dress is required.

Alcohol Policy:

No alcohol or other beverages allowed to be brought onto the race course on foot.
- Additional and more frequent public transport.
- Pay to get in up to 5pm
- No access after 5pm except patrons who have a designated driver pass which will allow entry to one person to collect vehicles after 5pm.
- No pass outs
- Work towards a no glass policy (new policy).
- Free water.
- Breath testing available during the day.
- Security on each bar to help screen underage patrons.
- Strong police and licensing presence.

In order to facilitate the new alcohol policy the following will again apply for 2013:
- Fencing off car parks and corporates from general public. No restriction on movement through these areas excepting no alcohol can be taken in or out.
- Relocation of car spots behind grandstand to new leger area (Eastern side of Corporate Hoecker).
- Placement of additional food and beverage outlets behind grandstand.
- Relocation of bookmakers to allow free flowing access to outlets behind grandstand.
- Detailed survey of attendees to gauge reaction and seek feedback on policies and guidelines introduced for the 2009 Launceston Cup (new policy).
- Advertise designated pick up/drop off points for buses, taxis, hire cars etc in Jellico Street.

Please note beverage prices for general public will be kept to reasonable and acceptable levels
