1830
RACING AT MOWBRAY
Race meetings were being held at Mowbray from as early as 1830, making it one of Tasmania's oldest racing places.
1851
AUSTRALIAN CRICKET FIRST
The first recorded first-class cricket match in Australia was played at Launceston Racecourse in 1851, showing the racecourse was already an established public venue by then.
1865
FIRST LAUNCESTON CUP
The first Launceston Cup was run in 1865, won by Panic and became one of Tasmania's major thoroughbred racing events.
1871
MODERN CLUB ESTABLISHED
The modern Tasmanian Turf Club was formally established in Launceston, strengthening organised racing in the north.
1915
GRANDSTAND OPENS
The Mowbray grandstand, designed by Harold Masters, was first used on 6 February 1915.
1826
EARLY ORGANISED RACING
The Club links its origins to early organized racing in Tasmania, with the original turf club formed at Ross.
1851
